History

The Yonkers Public Library was
established in 1893 to serve the
citizens of the City of Yonkers.
In 1903 the "Carnegie" library
(pictured on right) was built
with a $50,000 donation from
Andrew Carnegie. There
are currently three branches;
the Riverfront Branch in downtown
Yonkers, the Grinton I. Will Branch
on Central Avenue and the
Crestwood Branch in the
Crestwood section of the city.
