Riverfront Directions and Parking Information

Directions from the North: Take the Saw Mill River Parkway South to Downtown Yonkers/Yonkers Avenue Westbound. Follow Continued... section below*.

Take Major Deegan / NYS Thruway (I-87) OR Sprain Brook Parkway OR Bronx River Parkway Southbound to Cross County Parkway Westbound.

Passing exit for Yonkers Avenue east, take next exit at Yonkers Avenue West

Stay to the right on the exit ramp as it curves under and around overhead bridge. (You must make a full circle). At the end of ramp, make right at light onto Yonkers Avenue westbound. Follow from Box Below*.

Directions from the South: Take West Side Highway (which becomes Saw Mill) Northbound to Yonkers Avenue Westbound. Follow form the box below*.

Take Major Deegan (I-87) OR Bronx River Parkway OR Hutchinson River Parkway North to Cross County Parkway Westbound. Follow Continued ... section below*.

*Stay on Yonkers Avenue, which will dogleg to the left in front of a large tan brick Catholic church (St.Casimir) and become Nepperhan Avenue.

Continue straight on Nepperhan through two traffic lights (School St. and New Main St.) You will pass Yonkers City hall on the right and go up and over a hill. At South Broadway, Nepperhan Avenue will become Prospect. Go straight on Prospect to a "T" intersection (Buena Vista Avenue). Make a right onto Buena Vista. There will be a traffic light at the intersection with Main Street. Make a right onto Main Street.

Immediately make a right onto the very next cross street Hawthorne Avenue-by the Tyrone House Bar. Garage entrance is to the right on Hawthorne behind Bar

Directions from River Towns Hastings-on-Hudson, Dobbs Ferry, Irvington, Tarrytown

Take Route 9 south into Yonkers. Route 9 becomes North Broadway at the city line. Go straight Go straight on North Broadway through light at Ashburton Avenue. North Broadway will become Wells Avenue at dogleg to the right that ends with light at "T" intersection (Warburton Ave). Make left at light on Warburton Ave. Follow from the box below**

**Continue on Warburton to Main Street. (Greystone Bakery will be on your right.) Make right onto Main Street.

Continue on Main Street to Hawthorne Avenue. Hawthorne Avenue is the very next cross street to your left to the Tyrone House Bar. Make a left onto Hawthorne. Garage entrance is immediately to the right on Hawthorne behind bar.

TO PARK IN THE FACILITY

...take a magnetically coded ticket upon entering the Garage after pressing the "blue" button on the ticket dispenser. Allow gate to open before proceeding to a parking space. Through signage and voice recording you will be told to take the ticket with you rather than leaving it in your car.

Proceed to available parking spaces, and then park. Although the Parking Authority installed a state of the art 24 hour/ 7 days a week security system in the facility for your personal safety, exit the garage through the Hawthorne Avenue entrance only.

WHERE IS THE LIBRARY?

As you exit the Buena vista Garage you will see the Yonkers Post Office Building on Main Street. Walk around the Post Office on either the Buena Vista Avenue or Market Place sides until you see a tall, four story, white brick and concrete building with large blue/black windows. That is the Riverfront Library.

The Riverfront Library of the Yonkers Public Library is located at the foot of Dock Street and Buena Vista Avenue. After you entered the Library, proceed through the Atrium to the Information Desk and ask for a parking voucher for the Buena Vista Garage.  The librarian will need to see the ticket that you received in the garage. This voucher along with your validated ticket, will enable you to get up to 3 hours of free parking From the Buena Vista Garage only. Please do not lose either voucher or ticker, as it will be difficult to remove your car from the garage without penalties.
