African American Oral History Project

To celebrate Black History Month, the Yonkers Public Library is conducting an African American Oral History project. African Americans in Yonkers can share their experiences and memories with an oral historian at the library. You can contact Michael Walsh at or Kishauna Soljour at  to schedule an interview. The recordings of them will be preserved on the Yonkers Public Library digital archive

For everyone’s safety, interviews with be conducted through Zoom. For assistance in downloading it, contact Michael or Kishauna.

A waiver form has been created to grant to the Yonkers Public Library permission to post the interview on the digital archive. To fill it out ahead of time, click here.
