Good day! My name is Aurora and I work at the Yonkers Public Library Will Branch. I love working out and although I’m not a gym rat or a fitness maniac, I’m proud to say that I have always been consistent. Aerobics, walking, step aerobics, kickboxing, and all things cardio are what I love. I also love YouTube and the amazing exercise and health channels available for free online. You can work out easily at home. Here’s a list of my favorites and other free digital resources to access health and fitness books.
Hoopla, the library’s streaming service, is available to YPL cardholders for free! Hoopla allows you to access ebooks and more to enjoy on your computer, tablet, or smartphone.
FITNESS & HEALTH E-BOOKS ON OVERDRIVE
Audiobooks and e-books on self-improvement, cooking and food, medical issues, fitness, and more are available for free from Overdrive, the popular library service that allows you to borrow digital content anytime.
Free, full-length workout videos for all fitness levels. Coach Kozak and Claudia are the dynamic duo behind these videos. For light resistance, water bottles and light hand weights will come in handy. Fun! Fun! Fun!
WALK AT HOME WITH LESLIE SANSONE
For all of the Yonkers on the Move team members and for those of you who just want to move, feel free to walk, walk, walk, walk at home with Leslie Sansone. This channel features free workouts of 15, 20, and 45 minutes.
Yoga is not my thing, but during these trying times I needed to find a way to destress. Yoga with Adriene is Yoga with a sense of humor and a warm embrace. Her audience of 6,450,000 subscribers speaks for itself and there are many free beginner videos, including Yoga for Uncertain Times, Yoga for Couch Potatoes, 5-Minute Morning Yoga, and Quick Stress Fix.
Great cardio, dance, HITT, and full-body workouts led by fitness professionals. 30-minute workouts are lively and modifications are provided.
