Online Learning Tools at Yonkers Public Library (YPL)
Having a YPL library card gives you access to several online subscription services that might otherwise cost you money to access.
Gale Courses: provides access to over 300 FREE online courses led by instructors who practice in the field. Classes run for six weeks and new classes begin every month (the next round begins on April 15th). Types of classes include accounting (e.g., Intermediate QuickBooks 2015), computer applications (e.g., Introduction to Photoshop CC), and health care (e.g., Certificate in Complementary and Integrative Health). Learning Express: Students and adult learners can improve their skills required for academic and career success. Some practice tests include TASC, SAT, PSAT, ACT, AP, career certification tests such as NCLEX-RN, Praxis I and II, and more. Plus, there are practice sets and tutorials to develop skills in math, reading, writing, and basic sciences.
Lynda.com: Online learning platform that offers thousands of video courses in subjects including business, software, design, photography, and much more. Many courses included downloadable practice files so that you can work alongside the instructor. Finish the courses and you receive a certificate of completion you can add to your LinkedIn profile. Yonkers Workforce Development Board
Skill Up Yonkers: The Yonkers Workforce Development Board is providing Westchester County residents with free access to online career courses through its Skill Up Yonkers initiative. This initiative provides access to the Metrix E-Learning system, which consists of over 5,500 courses on topics including information technology, business, and finance.
