If you have lost your job and health coverage or are uninsured, now is a great time to check the NY State of Health Web site, because the annual period of open enrollment is upon us! There are many low-cost, quality health insurance options available for you and your family, and the online Marketplace offers an easy way to compare plans (by the benefits offered, the doctors and facilities that participate in plan networks, or overall quality rating) and prices, as well as apply for financial assistance that could lower the cost of coverage. You can also find out if you qualify for free coverage through Medicaid, Child Health Plus, or the Essential Plan.
The period for enrollment in Qualified Plans is typically limited to the Open Enrollment period, but this year, New York State has also extended the Special Enrollment period for the uninsured through the end of 2020 as part of the larger effort to provide supportive services to those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Have questions? Want more information about NY State of Health? Join us on Wednesdays, starting October 28th, 2020, to learn more about the health insurance plans on the Individual Marketplace and get help enrolling in a plan from a certified Marketplace navigator. We’ll be hosting Zoom-based sessions, conducted in both English and Spanish, on the dates and times shown. Follow this link to register online:
