Yonkers and the 2020 Census – April 8 Update

Every Wednesday is Census Day at Yonkers Public Library!

With data through Monday, 4/6, an estimated 37.2% of Yonkers households have completed their 2020 Census questionnaires. That’s lower than the rate for the New York State (40%) and nation (45.7%). We need to improve that rate for Yonkers to receive its fair share of federal funding and political representation!

If you haven’t already, fill out your form at my2020census.gov. You have until August 14 to complete your census questionnaire, but don’t wait!

Census fact of the week

During the 2020 Census, the Census Bureau will never ask you for:

  • Your Social Security number.
  • Money or donations.
  • Anything on behalf of a political party.
  • Your bank or credit card account numbers.

Additionally, there is no citizenship question on the 2020 Census.

If someone claiming to be from the Census Bureau contacts you via email or phone and asks you for one of these things, it’s a scam, and you should not cooperate. For more information, visit the Census Bureau’s Avoiding Fraud and Scams.
