Yonkers and the 2020 Census – May 27th Update

Every Wednesday is Census Day at Yonkers Public Library!

We’re more than halfway there! With data collected through Tuesday, May 26th, an estimated 52.5% of Yonkers households have completed their 2020 Census questionnaires. That’s still lower than the rate for the New York State (55%) and nation (60.1%). We need to improve that rate for Yonkers to receive its fair share of federal funding and political representation!

If you haven’t already, fill out your form at my2020census.gov. You now have until October 31st to complete your census questionnaire, but don’t wait!

Census fact of the week

Congratulations to all of the Yonkers  Class of 2020 graduates! Your graduation may not have looked the way you’d expected it to, but the 2020 Census can help you with your continued education. The federal government uses census data to help plan billions in funding for the Federal Pell Grant Program. These need-based grants help students pursue undergraduate degrees, teaching certifications, and certificates in fields such as cosmetology.
