Will Library reopened at 9am on Tuesday, April 21

Will Library closed due to an issue with defective electrical equipment. That equipment has since been replaced, passed City of Yonkers electrical inspection, and power has been restored by Con Edison.

YPL thanks the Mayor's Office, the Department of Engineering, the Department of Buildings and Yonkers Fire Department for their help in resolving this issue. We also thank our patrons for their patience and understanding.

Event Details

“THE BLACK ICONIC” is a solo art exhibition of recent paintings by Newark based mixed media artist and curator Ricardo Osmondo Francis. Inspired by the complexity of African American identity, mythology, and painting itself, this exhibit features a wide array of Francis’ luminous paintings. Thematically the work delves into the Black identity through an often spiritual gaze all while commenting on pop culture, politics, sexuality, and also from the artist’s own life. Visually this exhibition is a brooding elegiac vision of the Black visage delineated in both grand decadence and technically through densely evocative images that are steeped in multicultural symbolism. All in all this exhibition deeply examines how Black people are perceived both socially and politically on the world stage.
