Will Library reopens at 9am on Tuesday, April 21

Will Library closed due to an issue with defective electrical equipment. That equipment has since been replaced, passed City of Yonkers electrical inspection, and power has been restored by Con Edison.

YPL thanks the Mayor's Office, the Department of Engineering, the Department of Buildings and Yonkers Fire Department for their help in resolving this issue. We also thank our patrons for their patience and understanding.

Yonkers Commission on Human Rights will host a free showing of the film ‘10,000 Black Men Named George’ about A. Philip Randolph and his coworkers Milton P. Webster and Ashley Totten. The title refers to the custom of the time when Pullman porters, all of whom were black, were addressed as "George"; a sobriquet for George Pullman, who owned the company that built the sleeping cars (and other Railroad cars) and the industry. The film follows union activist A. Philip Randolph's efforts to organize the black porters of the Pullman Company in 1920s America, known as the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters
