Will Library reopened at 9am on Tuesday, April 21

Will Library closed due to an issue with defective electrical equipment. That equipment has since been replaced, passed City of Yonkers electrical inspection, and power has been restored by Con Edison.

YPL thanks the Mayor's Office, the Department of Engineering, the Department of Buildings and Yonkers Fire Department for their help in resolving this issue. We also thank our patrons for their patience and understanding.

Program Description

Event Details

Heidi Chisholm will guide us through a hands-on artisanal process starting from newly-shorn sheep fibers. We will transform those fibers into wool yarn. Participants will be able to turn the crank on a drum carder to comb out the wool, then twist it into a single strand of yarn using a drop spindle. The next step will be plying two single strands into homespun yarn on a spinning wheel. Finally, a small weaving project will allow us to create an artistic sample of fabric.

Limit of 10 adult participants for this workshop. Registration required.
