Embroidery on Single-Use Plastic by Katherine Earle
Sacred Threads is an exhibition that challenges traditional perceptions of textiles as mere domestic craft by showcasing textiles through their materiality as powerful expressions of spirituality, community, healing, and ancestral and personal narratives. This inclusive platform displays artists from diverse backgrounds to share their stories through the medium of textiles in any configuration as showcasing diverse tactile forms and inherited craft traditions. Sacred Threads explores how artists engage with this medium as subject to enact social change, to share personal stories, to honor ancestral hands and to address political issues, contributing to a broader dialogue about the role of textiles in contemporary art. Curated by Haifa Bint-Kadi.
