Will Library reopened at 9am on Tuesday, April 21

Will Library closed due to an issue with defective electrical equipment. That equipment has since been replaced, passed City of Yonkers electrical inspection, and power has been restored by Con Edison. 

YPL thanks the Mayor's Office, the Department of Engineering, the Department of Buildings and Yonkers Fire Department for their help in resolving this issue. We also thank our patrons for their patience and understanding.

Join us for a short film on the life of John Edward Bruce.  He was a writer, correspondent and editor of various newspapers and magazines, including the NY Times and Howard's American Magazine.  Bruce was the founder of the Negro Society for Historical Research alongside Arthur A. Schomburg.  He lived and died In Yonkers and is buried in Oakland Cemetary.
