Explore the diverse and captivating world of wild mushrooms! This all-ages presentation, led by experienced mycophile Lisa Solomon, will delve into the surprising variety of colors, shapes, sizes, and even smells found in fungi, challenging common myths along the way. Participants will learn to identify major genera and their defining characteristics, discover essential gear for forest foraging, and review safety rules for collecting and cooking edible varieties. The session will also cover emerging frontiers in mycology: how fungi can help save the world, and will provide connections to local amateur clubs, field guides, mobile apps, and online identification communities.
