Will Library reopens at 9am on Tuesday, April 21

Will Library closed due to an issue with defective electrical equipment. That equipment has since been replaced, passed City of Yonkers electrical inspection, and power has been restored by Con Edison.

YPL thanks the Mayor's Office, the Department of Engineering, the Department of Buildings and Yonkers Fire Department for their help in resolving this issue. We also thank our patrons for their patience and understanding.

Program Description

Event Details

Hearing loss may happen at any age but is more common as you get older. Regular screenings will help you keep track of your hearing and get help when you need it. The Communication Disorders Clinic of Mercy College is providing free hearing screenings Appointments at 5 minute intervals. You must register

WHAT TO EXPECT: This hearing screening is accomplished by presenting different tones that are critical for hearing important speech sounds through earphones to each ear. The participants are asked to raise their hand to indicate when they hear the sounds. Although these sounds are very soft, they are presented at a loudness which we know normal hearing ears can hear. GOAL: The goal is to identify participants with a possible hearing loss that may interfere with their communication skills so that the participant can be referred to the appropriate medical / health care professionals to take appropriate action to further assess and treat any hearing problems.
