Form and Abstraction: A Retrospective features the work of two feminist visionaries, Carol Massa and Elisabeth Jacobsen, whose work spans mediums from painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking and more. Their friendship has been a marker in both artist’s careers and is evidenced in the way their works fluidly weave throughout the gallery. Jacobsen creatively engineers found objects to tell stories of love and loss and to pursue social issues within her complex sculptures. Massa is a storyteller who uses vibrant color along with gesture to create canvases that seem to vibrate and dance with movement. Together, their work orchestrates a composition of freedom, social justice, reflection and revelation built on a relationship of mutual love and respect.
