Do you have gaps in Medicare coverage? Use Weiss Financial database to compare supplemental plans

Are you turning 65 years old this year? The good news is you're eligible for Medicare coverage. The bad news is Medicare doesn't cover all your healthcare costs. It leaves a big gap that can get costly when you go for medical care.

There are numerous companies offering Medicare supplemental plans or "Medigap" plans. These plans pay for costs that Medicare doesn't cover but navigating the plans and comparing costs can be complicated and overwhelming. Yonkers Public Library has a special resource that does the work for you.

YPL's Weiss Financial Ratings database provides a customized report based on your age and location that compares multiple plans, what is covered and the estimated costs per policy. You can access this resource in the library or from home with a Yonkers Public Library card.

How to access:

  1. Click here to access from home
  2. Enter your Yonkers library card
  3. Click on the "Medigap" tab
  4. Enter your name, email, age, gender and zip code to get a customized report
  5. Your report will be available immediately and emailed to you
