Father's Day

This year, Father’s Day is June 19. Father figures come in all shapes and sizes - biological fathers, adoptive fathers, grandfathers, step-fathers, fathers-in-law, father figures who have passed away, and many more. Father’s Day is a time to come together to celebrate love and family.

While not a federal holiday, Father’s Day is celebrated annually on the third Sunday in June. Celebrations first began in 1910, and while it quickly grew in popularity around the country, it was not an official holiday until 1972.

Many families celebrate Father’s Day by spending quality time together, giving gifts and hosting family barbecues.

There are plenty of Father’s Day books that you can check out and read with your family from the Yonkers Public Library. Be sure to ask a librarian for a reccommendation!
