Veterans Day occurs on November 11 every year in the United States in honor of the “eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month" of 1918 that signaled the end of World War One. In 1919, an observance was held on this day called Armistice Day. In 1954, it was changed to Veterans Day by President Dwight D. Eisenhower. Since that time, it has become a day to recognize the service of all veterans.
