Our local history room at the Riverfront Library is a trove of materials: photographs, posters, yearbooks, postcards, reference books, and thousands of other objects that attest to the rich history of our many communities. Please contact us with your local history questions at localhistory@ypl.org or phone 914-375-7966  to make a research appointment.

YPL's media lab may be reserved to record a video or take photos using the green screen (bring your SD card or flashdrive), practice a musical instrument (YPL can provide a keyboard or acoustic guitar), record music, or conduct an interview or podcast.  The media lab is not a soundproof recording studio. Volume must be kept at a low level so as not to disturb other Library patrons. Media Lab reservations are available to Yonkers Public Library (YPL) cardholders whose accounts are in good standing, and who are 16 years of age or older. Children 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult. YPL cardholders may request to reserve the Media Lab for up to two hours, twice a week. The Sensory Room can help calm, focus or stimulate individuals with sensory processing challenges. The furniture, equipment and lighting will provide support to assist with self-regulation through a calming sensory experience.

The VHS Conversion Cart allows you to convert VHS videocassettes to digital files and transfer them to a flash drive or upload to the Cloud. The workstation consists of a VCR connected to a computer with Elgato software.

The Creative Studio at the Yonkers Grinton I. Will Library is a space outfitted with content creation, legacy capture, and craft equipment. It also includes state-of-the-art podcasting equipment and software and is reservable by the public with a Yonkers Public Library card. For inquiries, email Michael Walsh, mwalsh@ypl.org.

The Joan Pincus Auditorium: A 325 seat auditorium that hosts important civic events, musical performances and film screenings.
