August 2 is National Coloring Book Day, a celebration of the joy of coloring for people of all ages! Coloring isn’t just something to do for fun, but it has major mental health benefits. Taking some time out of your day to sit down and color can promote mindfulness, relieve stress, and can even improve your sleep.
This year’s Summer Reading theme is “Color Our World”, a celebration of artistic expression and how different forms of art can enrich our lives. Take some time today to relax, pick up some crayons, colored pencils, or markers, and color! If you’re looking for some high-quality coloring pages, check out these free coloring pages from Crayola. There are hundreds of coloring pages for children and adults that you can download and print out for free.
If you haven’t already, there’s still time to register for Summer Reading at YPL. When children register for Summer Reading, you'll receive a coloring book. And for patrons of all ages, we have some awesome artistic raffle prizes that you have a chance to win at the end of the summer including a coloring book and art set for kids, and an acrylic paint set for adults and teens!
