Oscars 2026

It’s Oscars® season again! Whether you watch the show because you’re interested in movies or you just want to see the fabulous outfits the stars will wear while walking the red carpet, we here at YPL want to celebrate with you and encourage a greater appreciation for film and pop culture.

Mark your calendar! The 98th Academy Awards (known by many as The Oscars®) will take place on Sunday, March 15, 2026. The ceremony will be held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood and will be broadcast live on ABC, as well as streamed on Hulu. Conan O'Brien is scheduled to return as the host for the ceremony. You can view the full list of nominees on the Oscars website.

YPL is inviting you to participate in a contest to predict the Oscar winners. The people with the most correct predictions will be entered into a drawing a set of passes (free movie viewing plus free popcorn and soda) at the Jacob Burns Film Center in Pleasantville, a nonprofit cinema and education organization bringing audiences together to enjoy the art of film. The online ballot can be submitted until noon on Mar. 15, 2026.

To assist you in making predictions, you can check out (for free!) DVDs of the Oscars nominees, and you can also find the books that inspired some of them:

If you’re looking for more information about the nominees, from scene breakdowns to nominee spotlights, check out the official 98th Oscars Season playlist on Youtube, which will be continuously updated until the Oscars.

While awards season is inherently competitive, the Oscars® is a celebration of art that came out in the past year and a reminder of the value of art in daily life. Art has meaning, and the creation and enjoyment of it is what makes us human. In the words of Spanish film director and writer Pedro Almodóvar, “Cinema can fill in the empty spaces of your life and your loneliness.” By enjoying cinema we can join in a shared language that brings us together.
