Summer Reading Week One: Thoughtfulness

Our summer reading theme for Summer 2023 is “All Together Now”. For the next eight weeks, we will be exploring themes of TOGETHERness, in an acrostic using the word “together”:

Thoughtfulness - Week of June 26

Outdoors - Week of July 3

Growing - Week of July 10

Energy - Week of July 17

Teamwork - Week of July 24

Happiness - Week of July 31

Environment - Week of August 7

Reading Rocks - Week of August 14

We invite you to explore our library resources on each topic of the week to reflect on how this theme impacts your life. This upcoming week’s theme is Thoughtfulness, which the Cambridge dictionary describes as kindness and the care and consideration for other people.

There are many ways to be more thoughtful in your life, such as listening more actively to others or performing small acts of kindness. Taking a step back and reflecting on the smaller things in life can help you become more focused and fulfilled in different aspects of your life.

There are plenty of books on thoughtfulness and mindfulness at the Yonkers Public Library. We’ve put together a list of great reads you can pick up this week to become more thoughtful in your life. Be sure to ask a librarian if you’re looking for a specific recommendation!

Part-time Page Natalie at the Crestwood Library put together some thoughtfulness worksheets and crafts that you can print out and enjoy by yourself or with your family. Click the link to download the file and save it to your computer, and print it out to enjoy.
