Tolkien Reading Day

On March 25th, Tolkien Reading Day is celebrated. This is a day to celebrate J.R.R Tolkien and his books. This date was chosen because on March 25 in the Lord of the Rings Sauron is defeated.

Some of the ways to observe Tolkien Reading Day include:

  • Creating your own map of Middle Earth.
  • Making a list of all new words you encounter while reading Tolkien’s works.
  • Completing a Tolkien word search puzzle.
  • Reading a Tolkien book.

If you are interested in borrowing a Tolkien book, take a look at the catalog to see which of his books are available at the Yonkers Public Library.

Podcast listeners who are Lord of the Rings fans will enjoy listening to the Unexpected Podcast: Lord of the Rings. In this show, the hosts talk about the Lord of the Rings books and movies. They also provide interesting trivia about Tolkien.

Michael Walsh is an Adult Services Librarian at the Will Library. He is currently reading The Women by Kristin Hannah.
